ABOUT COMMON CANINE

At Common Canine, our goal is to empower you to live a happy life with your puppy or adult dog. We keep our training program small, so your dog receives proper attention during their stay with us. Our customized, reinforcement-based dog training techniques help you create and strengthen the bond with your pet, leading to a more harmonious relationship.

We understand that living with a dog can be challenging, especially when behavior issues arise. That's why we're here to help you move forward with confidence, knowing that you have the tools and support you need to overcome any obstacles. We not only spend time training your pet, but we teach you how to safely use training equipment and commands to ensure the obedience continues after your dog’s stay with us.

Our training programs are designed to be effective both at home and on-the-go, so you can enjoy your life with your dog without any difficulties.

ABOUT THE FACILITY

Common Canine is run out of Zach Abulencia’s home, so pets in training get real-life experience and learn how to properly behave in different house-based scenarios. Pets are also trained and socialized in both acres of land and in public spaces to test their obedience in a number of environments.

ABOUT ZACH ABULENCIA, HEAD TRAINER AT COMMON CANINE

Zach’s passion for dogs and training is what sparked the idea of launching Common Canine in his home state of New York.

Since starting his business, Zach has trained hundreds of pets of all ages, sizes, and breeds. His focus of education has resulted in more long-term, positive owner and pet relationships than most trainers.

Giving back to the community in Upstate New York and beyond is a focus of Zach’s business. Over the years, he has rescued several pets from local shelters, on the verge of euthanization in order to train and re-home them to families who can not otherwise afford a fully-trained pet.

Outside of training, Zach competes in dog sports such as French Ring and Mondioring. Alongside his Belgian Malinois Jocko, Zach has succeeded in securing French Ring 1 and Mondioring 1 titles. In 2022, the pair finished third in the country in a national French Ring competition. In addition to competing in dog sports, Zach is the training director for Divergent Working Dog Club.

Next on Zach’s list of goals is to compete in the PSA dog sport and to conduct an AKC Retriever Hunting Test with his lab.
